Accessibility is the practice of making your websites usable by as many people as possible. Mostly, we think of this as being about people with disabilities, however making sites accessible can also benefit other users – such as those using mobile devices, or those with slow network connections.
If you are embarking on the process of delivering a service or application, or indeed, if you already have one, then you should be aware that it must be accessible to everyone who needs it.
This means you need to start thinking about how users might access and use your service before you design or build anything. You should be able to provide evidence that the application has been tested for accessibility with real-world users (something GOV.uk makes reference to when designing for accessibility).
